Unlocking Your True Potential
We all experience times in our lives when we doubt our self-worth.
Questions like "Does my life matter?" or "Why can't I accomplish as much as others?" begin to cloud our thoughts.
We compare ourselves to others and feel like we don't measure up, which can make us question our purpose and value. These feelings of self-doubt can make it hard for us to believe in ourselves.
When we're struggling with feelings of worthlessness, it affects more than just our emotions. We start to make decisions based on fear and hesitation, and we avoid taking chances that could help us grow.
Whether it's deciding not to voice our opinions, avoiding new challenges, or hesitating to contribute to society,
But it's during these low points that we need a reminder of our inherent value.
I’d like to share a Sufi Comic here that reminds us of what are value is:
The Quran offers a profound perspective on human worth, stating that:
God blew His spirit into us: And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My Spirit (Quran 38:72)
Declared us the best of creations. Indeed, We created humans in the best form. (Quran 95:4)
Taught us His Names: And He taught Adam the names - all of them. Then He showed them to the angels. (Quran 2:31)
These aren't just words of comfort; they're a call to recognize our unique potential.
What does it mean to be "the best of creations"? It means that among all of God's creations, humans have the unique ability to reflect the full range of His Names (attributes) through our free will.
This isn't about being perfect or never failing; it's about striving to embody the best qualities, to be representatives of those divine Names on Earth.
But how does one reflect God’s Names?
By sharing what we have, we reflect God’s name Ar-Razzak (The Total Provider)
By being forgiving we reflect God’s name Al-Gafur (The Most Forgiving)
By acquiring and sharing wisdom, we reflect God’s name Al-Hakeem (The Most Wise)
Feeling low is human, but it's also a signal to remind ourselves of the immense purpose our lives hold. We're here to be the best versions of ourselves, reflecting God's qualities in our everyday actions.
When I find myself doubting, I take a moment to reflect on:
What excites me?
What goals light a spark within me?
What talents or skill do I have that can make people’s life better?
These goals might not always be grand in the worldly sense, but when they're driven by pure intentions, they resonate with a deeper sense of purpose.
By pursuing these goals, we become a bridge between heaven and earth, embracing the awesome responsibility that comes with our potential.
So, the next time you're questioning your worth, remember: your life has an immense purpose. It's about discovering and fulfilling that potential, becoming a vessel for good, and reflecting the divine in the mundane.
Your choices matter, and through them, you can make a difference, both in your life and in the lives of others.
